Hello! I’m Elisabeth Ashby, a SAG-AFTRA actor, narrator, and occasional homebrewer based just outside Richmond, VA. I deliver clean, punch-and-roll audio from my home studio, which I’m told sits on the site of one of the final battles of the Civil War.

About Me

I have been a professional stage actor and singer for well over 20 years, mostly focusing on classical theatre, musical theatre, and children’s theatre. I’ve also worked as a standardized patient, which has made me very comfortable with medical jargon, I was a costume and puppet technician at a theme park, and the local Shakespeare company has periodically hired me to teach Elizabethan drinking songs to high school students.

I love to narrate fantasy, non-fiction, thrillers, horror, and literary fiction- really, anything with a good story, whether that story is true in the literal sense or just in the metaphysical one. I have a good ear for accents and character voices and I love exploring the pacing and rhythm of a text in order to find just the right tone. One the stronger skills I bring to the table is my comedic timing- most of my work onstage has involved playing quirky character roles, and I’m especially comfortable with dry, snarky humor.

When I’m not in the booth, I love to travel- Scotland and Iceland have been my favorite places to visit so far (I’m always up for anywhere with a cool city and some good hiking.) I make most of my own clothes, which I started doing as a way to keep myself from doomscrolling during lockdown and has since become an absolute passion for me, both because I no longer have to worry about finding pants that fit and because it lets me get really creative with my personal style. I collect vinyl records, I spend as much time as I can on the local bike trail, I’m a tarot card reader, I met my partner at a live-action role play event, and I’m really passionate about body acceptance and fighting back against diet culture and rigid, unattainable beauty standards.
